The ‘Monster’ promised to return the emblem to the Hanover headquarters of Bahlsen.German daily the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung has reportedly received a second letter from the quirky thief. The Hannover police reported that a local newspaper also received a picture of someone dressed like the Sesame Street character holding what appears to be the stolen cookie.”Because Werni loves the biscuit as much as I do and now always cries and misses the biscuit so badly, I’m giving it back to him!!!” the letter reportedly said, referring to Werner Michael Bahlsen, the head of Bahlsen, which makes the famous Liebnitz brand of cookies. According to Spiegel Online, the initial letter demanded, among other things, that the company provide the treats to all the rooms at a local children’s hospital if it ever wanted to see the golden cookie again. Although the head of Bahlsen offered to donate 52,000 packs of biscuits to different organizations upon the emblem’s safe return, he said that the company “refused to be blackmailed” and was not going to meet the thief’s demands.
