In Paris as investigations continue into the death of a student earlier this week four men and one woman have appeared before a judge in connection with events surrounding it. Paris prosecutor François Molins is set to hold a press conference later today.

Eighteen-year-old Clement Meric, an anti-fascist campaigner died in hospital after a clash with a group of skinheads on Wednesday. One source has said that preliminary results of the autopsy showed Meric died from multiple blows.

The death which has shaken France and sparked anti-fascist demonstrations across the country. It has raised fears far-right and neo-Nazi groups have increased in popularity.

One group, the Revolutionary Nationalist Youths has denied any involvement. The main far-right party, the National Front, described the incident as “appalling”.
