Image from greecetoday.ruAn ancient wreath made of gold has been unearthed during excavation work for the new subway system in Greece’s second-largest city Thessaloniki.According to archaeologists, the find was discovered on the site of an ancient cemetery. Archaeologist Vassiliki Misailidou said the olive branch wreath made of gold was buried in a simple, box-shaped woman’s grave dating to the late 4th or early 3rd century B.C., Construction Week Online said. The wreath appeared to be buried with a woman who lived about 2,300 years ago.According to the website, a total of 23,000 ancient and medieval artefacts have been found during archaeological excavations connected with the construction since 2006.
