Aleksandr Povetkin. (RIA Novosti / Vitaliy Belousov)The World Boxing Association has allowed its Super Champion, Wladimir Klitschko, to hold another fight before his mandatory title defense against ‘regular’ belt holder Aleksandr Povetkin of Russia. According to the media, Klitschko’s next rival will most likely be Cuba’s Odlanier Solis, with the match taking place on April 6. But the WBA’s special permit comes into force only if the Ukrainian’s team signs a contract with Povetkin before February 28, with the new deadline for Klitschko’s bout with the Russian being July 31. If the sides fail to find common ground once again, the purse bid will be held on March 18, which will see the earnings spit 75% for Klitschko and 25% to Povetkin. But if Wladimir loses his match on April 6 then Povetkin will see a fifty-fifty split with the new champ.Undefeated Povetkin (33) has been waiting for his chance to take on the Ukrainian since 2007 when he had to withdraw from a bout due to injury. The 36-year-old Klitschko is currently the top heavyweight in the world as he holds the IBF and WBO titles, besides the WBA Super Championship.
