Portland couple suing police over late-night humiliation, rights violations
AFP Photo / Natalie BehringA lawsuit filed in Oregon accuses five Portland officers of unlawfully storming a residence and forcing a sleeping woman to stand in her underwear as they tased her partner and searched the area.The case, filed by a Portland couple against the Portland Police Bureau, alleges that on August 17, 2011, a neighbor called the police after hearing shouting in Sarah Lynn Hill and Brett Lopez’s argument. The couple states that they had an argument at the apartment, but there was no physical violence. On arrival, the police accessed the balcony and shined lights into the apartment, where the couple was sleeping. According to the suit, filed December 31 in Multnomah County Circuit Court, an hour into the scene, officers decided to enter the apartment through an unlocked front door.Noticing the intrusion, Lopez asked police to leave his bedroom. Instead, one officer grabbed Lopez while the other tased him twice. He was then arrested for harassment and interfering with a police officer, but was later acquitted by a jury.Meanwhile, Hill was dragged out of bed by her arms and forced to stand in her living room in just a tank top and underwear until she was given a blanket. They ended up with Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, but according to THR the latter two singers didn’t initially jump at the opportunity. “I was on the fence about the whole thing … I got approached by all the [singing competition] shows,” Carey said, adding that she chose “Idol” thanks to advice from her husband Nick Cannon. “He said I should do it because it’s the top, it’s the cream of the crop. Fugitive anti-virus magnate John McAfee arrested in Guatemala

Fugitive software pioneer John McAfee has reportedly been arrested in Guatemala for illegally entering the country, says Guatemalan Interior Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla.
McAfee, known for his paranoia and experimental drug use, went on the run from his home Belize after his neighbor was murdered on November 11 and he was sought for questioning.
On Tuesday, McAfee told journalists he was applying for political asylum. Guatemalan authorities, however, said they had received no asylum request from McAfee. Belize still seeks him for questioning, but he does not face arrest, Belizean authorities say.
The founder of the McAfee anti-virus software company retired in 1994, netting $100 million in the process. He has lived in Belize, a tiny, English-speaking tropical country in Central America, for the past four years.

The singer took a break from her Dance Again World Tour to sit down with editor-in-chief and HuffPost blogger Bonnie Fuller to discuss the divorce and the breakup of her family, which she described as “devastating.”“I didn’t want to be the woman who stayed in bed for months,” Lopez said. “I did do that a little, but I knew I had to get through it.” She continued: “I’d dance every day, I’d work out, I’d say a little prayer and I still wouldn’t feel any better.
