The Miami-based officer has previously been dubbed “Florida’s Dirtiest Cop” for being the most disciplined, arrested and fired officer in the state. In the latest incident, the Opa-Locka Police Department is arguing that Bosque should be fired for leaving his assault-style rifle with his girlfriend’s father while he was on leave for eight days.During a hearing held Wednesday, Bosque’s attorney argued that the rifle was in good hands, since the girlfriend’s father was a licensed security guard. But city attorney Joe Geller argued that it is no small matter to leave a city-owned, 30-round assault rifle with someone else – especially since the weapon resembles the one used to conduct the Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre in December.“We’re here on a very simple matter,” Geller told CBS4. “It’s going to be up to the arbitrator. We think what the officer did was wrong.”Previously, Bosque has fought numerous allegations, some of which have led to previous terminations. He has been accused of beating juveniles, falsifying reports, calling in ‘sick’ from Cancun, having busted the skull of a handcuffed suspect, having drugs and alcohol in his squad car, and participating in an unauthorized police chase in which four people were killed. He was also accused of stealing a car, trying to board an airplane with a loaded gun, and driving with a suspended license. Police have already investigated Bosque 40 times, 16 of those for battery or other violent crimes, according to a Huffington Post report from early 2012. But because these were allegations and not convictions, Bosque has received more second chances than any other police officer in Florida. After receiving his latest chance to continue working for the Opa-Locka Police Department, Bosque signed a deal agreeing that one more strike against him would be his last.After the Miami Herald published a 2012 article describing the number of times Bosque has been investigated for misconduct, the 18-year-veteran “lit up”.“I can’t believe that,” he told the paper. “I’m not trying to smile. I just… damn!”But the city is now arguing before a court that leaving his assault rifle with someone else qualifies as the last strike. Police department officials say the gun should have been left in Bosque’s own home or at the police station while he was on vacation.The arbitrator, Jeanne Wood, will determine if his carelessness is worthy of his sixth and last dismissal from Opa-Locka, and eighth dismissal of his career. Protecting BitTorrent Users from VPN Disconnects
To protect themselves against excessive monitoring and security exploits, many BitTorrent users have signed up for anonymizing services such as VPNs and proxies.
However, getting a subscription doesn’t guarantee privacy. If for some reason the connection with the VPN is lost, BitTorrent downloads will simply continue from one’s residential IP-address.
Luckily there are ways to minimize this risk and make sure BitTorrent downloads only work when the VPN is connected. Vuze, for example, now has a “connect through VPN only” option built-in.
This new feature comes with Vuze’s updated proxy and VPN support in version 4.8.1.0. It notifies users via a pop-up and asks them whether they want to connect only when the VPN is running.
“Vuze now includes logic to detect when you are running over a VPN and prompts you explicitly to bind to its interface to increase privacy,” Vuze explains on its blog.
If the automatic detection doesn’t work, which is often the case, the feature can be activated manually in a few simple steps.
1. ‘Tools’ > ‘Options’ > set ‘Mode’ to advanced
2. Go to ‘Connection’ > ‘Advanced Network Settings’
3. Make sure that you are connected to the VPN. Select the right network interface from the list and enter the corresponding id in the “Bind to local IP address or interface” box. This varies per computer.
E.g. On Windows PPTP/L2TP generally goes through the WAN Miniport and OpenVPN uses the TAP-Win32 Adapter V9. Usually you will see the name or IP-address of the VPN listed.
4. Make sure the box “enforce IP bindings” is ticked at the bottom.
Then when everything is working correctly a green “routing” icon should appear in the bottom bar of the client.
To check whether it’s working you can simply disconnect the VPN. The “routing” icon should then turn red and all active downloads and uploads will be halted.
As far as we know Vuze is the only popular BitTorrent client that has a network interface binding feature. Many BitTorrent / uTorrent users have been asking for a similar privacy protecting option as well, but for now these clients only allow binding to static IP-addresses.
For those not using Vuze there are other options available though. The easiest, and perhaps most safe, is to install a general VPN monitoring tool. We’ve discussed these and other tips in a previous article on VPN security.

It’s time for Ruth Bader Ginsburg to step down.Retiring and giving up her final years on the nation’s high court is a lot to ask from Ginsburg, who has been a liberal hero for many years. But just as she was a liberal hero before serving on the Supreme Court, she can be a liberal hero again by leaving it.This is all pretty straightforward. Ginsburg is 80. Her health is apparently fine now, although she’s a two-time cancer survivor. There’s every possibility she could not only continue in office beyond the Barack Obama presidency but that she could survive even eight years of a Republican in office after that, if that’s what’s in the cards.And yet: “Every possibility” isn’t good enough. Ginsburg will turn 84 soon after Obama’s successor will be sworn in. Realistically, anyone planning for the future has to assume there’s a 50 percent chance of that successor being a Republican.Moreover, the simple fact is that most Republicans will support a filibuster against any Supreme Court nominee. Sam Raimi, ‘Spider-Man’ Director, On Watching ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’: ‘I Haven’t Had The Guts’
After the success of Sam Raimi’s trilogy of Spider-Man films, it seemed like a no-brainer that the series would continue, considering everyone involved seemed willing to do so.
