Late Friday, Twitter announced that it had been hit by a “sophisticated attack” in which hackers stole usernames, e-mail addresses and encrypted passwords for 250,000 Twitter users. The attackers appear to have broken in using a well-known vulnerability in Oracle’s Java software.
